Free enterprise is the focus of a new seminar sponsored by the Lou Frey Institute for Politics and Government at the University of Central Florida this semester.
The half-day long seminar "American Public Policy and Free Enterprise: The Adam Smith Seminar" will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Fairwinds Alumni Center on the main campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Speakers who are experts in the area of security and technology, government, housing development, policy and the economy are scheduled to present. Among them is U.S. Rep. Charles W. Stenholm, from Texas, and Sean Snaith, a nationally recognized economist with the UCF,s Institute for Economic Competitiveness.
The Lou Frey Institute is a nonpartisan foundation that engages in civic education for college and high school students and members of the Central Florida community. The institute promotes informed discussion of issues from diverse viewpoints, encourages participation in the political process and supports research on politics and policy.
